ABNY Launches Census 2020 Pro Bono Pop-Up PR Agency

We officially launched a pro bono Pop-Up Public Relations Agency to help lead the communications effort around the 2020 Census and we brought aboard Ayofemi Kirby, a former communications director for the Congressional Black Caucus, to lead the agency, which will provide free strategic counsel, public relations, and digital strategies to community-based organizations working to get out the count.  Community based organizations can apply for support from the agency here.

Ms. Kirby will work with Melva Miller who leads ABNY’s census efforts, and will manage a team of PR professionals, digital experts, and political campaign strategists working to support nonprofit organizations in their outreach in hard-to-count communities.  Services and workshops will include strategic communications planning, messaging, digital advertising and outreach, video production, and media relations, among other topics that will raise awareness and help New Yorkers complete the census form. Read more about Ayofemi Kirby on her website and in this feature by O’Dwyer PR.

To be eligible for the Census 2020 Pop-Up PR Agency, applicants must:

  • service hard-to-count communities within the five boroughs of New York City;
  • have dedicated funding for paid census outreach and staff committed to getting out the count; and,
  • create and implement a census outreach plan from March 1 through June 30.

We would encourage you to apply for support from the agency as soon as possible through the link here.
